Titel: kanotix update gui?
I thought I had it installed but I dont see it anymore and the command doesnt work.

Is this still active and working with the latest kanotix?
Anyone have a link for it?

Guess I can update kernels the old way manually,no biggy.I believe the wiki way is still a good way to go right?

Thank you.

the wiki way, or the faq way, works fine. I haven't looked at the wiki stuff, but the faq on it works fine.

Just make sure to use the correct kernel version, for 32 bit, kanotix-kernel-current.zip is probably what you still want, unless you have good reason for using something else.

Just follow the directions on the linked page. http://www.andreas-loibl.de/content/linux/repository/

Edit: I am running easter RC4, and picked this up just a week or two ago, tops.

You can add (copy & paste) this to your source list

# Loibl's Scripte
deb http://www.andreas-loibl.de/linux/debian/ ./

Open Konsole login as root (su or sux, password)

apt-get update

If you get a key error, copy and paste this

gpg --keyserver wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net --recv-keys 3C9C56BDF781E713

hit enter, then copy and paste this

apt-key add /root/.gnupg/pubring.gpg

hit enter again

Then apt-get update again

apt-get install kanotix-update-gui

From there you can update the kernel

It will be located in K-menu > System > Kanotix-Update-GUI

Hope that helps Auf den Arm nehmen

Try

# gpg --keyserver hkp://wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net --recv-keys F781E713

instead.

I am getting the same message but I managed to install kanotix-update-gui.
Will this affect its operations in anyway or it's not anything to be concerned about?
eco2geek - 29.06.2006, 18:10 Uhr
Titel:
No, it won't affect anything. It just wants to warn you about "untrusted" packages.

I'm having a slightly different problem - I can launch kanotix-update-gui but no matter what option I choose the window flashes and just stays on the main menu.
I've tried running from a terminal but it reports no errors.
I have used kug to update a kernel before and it worked fine, I don't know why it's stopped working...

All is working fine at this end, How is your source list ?

wget -O/etc/apt/sources.list http://kanotix.com/files/fix/sources.list

apt-get update

You can try removing it and reinstalling and see if that helps

sources.list is ok.
Tried removing and re-installing and it's the same, strange.
