General Support - Removing Konqueror /cdrom/index.html Autostart Vinnie - 12.08.2006, 23:39 Uhr Titel: Removing Konqueror /cdrom/index.html Autostart
I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of that default kanotix web page that comes up on the kde desktop by default on the kanotix-2006-easter-rc4 LIVE-CD. I've customized kde and several apps, using saveconfig to save it all to a 16MB usb thumb-drive, but I can't seem to get rid of that page. I don't really want to remaster but I will if there is no other way. All the info I find on this problem assumes a HDD install, but with the LIVE-CD there's no way to make the edits because the files are all on read-only fs's.
Is there an easy way to do this without remastering?

Every time you boot, the Xsession startup script will create an entry in the KDE autostart folder (/etc/X11/Xsession.d/45xsession). It should be possible to edit the script permanently by combining unionrw with persistent home feature. But I don't think it's worth the effort.
You could also copy the cd's contents to a hard drive, delete the file "index.html" (it isn't compressed) and create a new iso file with mkisofs. 45xsession will again look for "index.html", but as the file isn't there, the autostart mechanism doesn't work.

I've decided it's too much trouble to bother with

Actually, that won't work either. konqueror will still run but will show a page with:
Thanks, tho'

There's no error message because the script skips launching Konqueror if it can't find the index file.

On my box if I edit ~/.kde/Autostart/showindex.desktop and change the argument "file:/cdrom/index.html" to say "file:/cdrom/indexx.html", (which seems like it would have the same effect, ie. konqueror will not find the file it is looking for), a konqueror window with the specified geometry pops up and says:
