Any one come across this seems to have only happened lately, I get a Dialogue Box named 'Volume' and a bar in the middle which varies with volume change in mixer but box stays in the middle of the screen. I tried killing it and I think it is called 'kded' in the processes listing.
How do i rid myself of this annoying box for good.?

it seems to be an old solution is in the archive.
Under some conditions, the user had the mixer on and shuttdown KDE with the option save settings istead of close session. Fine Option to get all programmes open when restarting the computer.
solve: it was somewhere in the kontrolcenter login/out-manager how to handle the shutdown. And I'm not really shure, if there was a ~/.kde/kderc option to get rid off.
Correect solution will be found in the archives german or english, time mid April, where this occures the first time.

I think I found it Control Center - Session Manager - Restore Previous Session. I disabled this and seems ok again,
