Titel: Bildschirmauflösung zu niedrig trotz change res
Habe auf meinem Laptop (F-S Lifebook E 8020 mit Intel Grafik) statt der gewuenschten 1400'1050 leider trotz change-res nur 1280*1024 als höchste Auflösung, alles dementsprechend etwas fuzzy...
bei Xorg.cong (davon gibts auch gleich noch ein paar andere mit Datum der versuchten Aenderung) steht unter section monitor

Was kann ich da denn nun aendern und sind diese extra Xorg.conf-dateien notwendig (sicherheitskopien?) oder kann ich die einfach loeschen...?
Hat da jemand mal ne idee?

Die überzähligen xorg.conf-Dateien sind (automatische) Backups und ganz praktisch, wenn nach einer Änderung gar nichts mehr funktioniert --> einfach umbenennen, dann läuft's wieder.
Die gewünschte Auflösung hinzukriegen ist manchmal etwas verzwickt, bei mir hat einmal geholfen, daß ich die Modelines mit nicht erwünschten Auflösungen auskommentiert (# an den Anfang der Zeile) habe, sodaß nur noch eine Auflösung geblieben ist.
Und/oder in der Section Screen bei Modes nur die gewünschte Auflösung eintragen, hier ein Ausschnitt aus meiner:

Habe ein bisschen rumgespielt, jetzt komme ich nicht meht in die graphische Oberflaeche.
Muss wohl eine der alten Xorg.conf.datum.save dateien umbenennen und die aktuelle loeschen, weiss bloss nicht wie (in der Konsole).
Kann zwar mit cd und ls die dateien finden, aber das loeschen und umbenennen????
Wer kann da einem Anfaenger helfen?

In der Kommandozeile ist übrigens die Tabulator-Taste sehr praktisch, zum Vervollständigen von Befehlen und Dateinamen.

OK, auch das versucht.
Auflösung geändert. X-server neu gestartet und tatsächlich: messerscharf...
Aber konnte nun nicht mehr einloggen, weder mit root noch mit Benutzer, landete einfach wieder bein Anmeldefenster.
Nach Neustart konnte ich das zwar wieder, aber die Auflösung war auch wieder die alte. 
Keine Ahnung, was ich noch versuchen kann...

Haben die Einstellungen in KDesktop - Anzeige (Einstellungen beim KDE-start verwenden) was zu sagen (sind angekreuzt)?

Also bei mir hats geholfen, das Notebook mit xmodule=vesa (fbdev kam nämlich bei mir nicht mit der "unüblichen" Auflösung klar) und screen=gewünschte Auflösung zu starten, dann hatte ich in krandrtray oder wie das heißt die richtige Auflösung zur Auswahl.
