General Support - Aborting Network detection on Kanotix startup. JumpyLINUX - 28.08.2006, 16:40 Uhr Titel: Aborting Network detection on Kanotix startup.
My Kanotix installation tries to detect any available networks at startup (some DHCP stuff on the screen). I don't always have a network available and the detection takes frustratingly long when a network is not connected. Is threre a keycombination to cancel the network detection? Or do I need to disable it? How?

you'll need to edit the file /etc/network/interfaces and remove the interface (e.g. lan0) from the line which says auto.
or try running netcardconfig and disable network on boot there.

Press "Ctrl" + "c" or edit /etc/dhclient.conf: http://kanotix.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=20328&highlight=dhclient+confJumpyLINUX - 28.08.2006, 17:28 Uhr Titel: THNX

why not set some sort of timeout? if network is not present, the script that brings up the ifaces should time out after a reasonable time if no connection active
