Ok, I am new to this whole Linux OS thing. I downloaded the ISO for Kanotix 2006-easter-rc4 and burned it to a CD. I then booted to this CD. I get the little penguin and text information stating it is loading/configuring. It gets to the line that says "enable udev" and just stays there. I never get to the GUI interface. I can type some text on the screen, so am I missing something here? Am I suppose to enter some sort of command to get to the interface? Or am I not waiting long enough for it to complete the boot? I gave it over 5-minutes after the "enable udev" came up. I was really hoping to try this OS out, can someone enlighten me please?

Thank you.

First of all, check the disk for errors: Append "testcd" to the line of boot commandos at the bottom of the boot menu. This will take a few minutes; observe the screen until you see the result "Everything looks o.k." If the cd is o.k., and the computer still doesn't boot, reboot and try a boot command ("cheat code") such as "noapic".

Also we need more info on your system, example CPU, Ram, what kind of hardrive sata/ide etc....

How and What did you burn the CD with ?

Special care is needed when burning the CD. Kanotix uses high compression technology.

You need to burn using DAO (which stands for: Disc At Once) and is better burning at 8x or below and using high quality CD-media.

Thank you for your replies. I burned the image on my office computer which only had a burning program called Sonic RecordNow. I copied the ISO file to my laptop and used Nero 6 to burn the image to CD. Kanotix now boots up properly from the CD and I am now venturing into what is available etc.

Now on to the next question. I have a Microsoft Bluetooth Desktop set (keyboard and mouse). It does not work with Kanotix, but I am assuming that I probably have to configure the bluetooth settings in Kanotix, but after taking a look at the configuration window, I am unsure how to do this. Is there any step-by-step instructions on how to do this?

Also, I have a spare 2nd hard drive that I am going to put into the computer and want to know if anyone can instruct how to setup a dual-boot configuration with 2 hard drives, Win XP on primary drive and Linux on the secondary drive. I'd prefer this over partitioning the primary drive.

Thanks again for any help.
