Tried running the latest rc on my old laptop it is a celeron 366 with 192Mb of ram. The display with any version of Kanotix is too small, just fills the middle of the screen but fixed by removing the modelines. Using the boot cheatcode noml makes no difference and using the Kanotix gui in the control panel fails and goes to text mode from which I cannot exit. I end up with a cursor but I can't imput. Easter rc4 runs fine on the same pc. any ideas or is this laptop now just too old.

Have you tried booting with video related cheat codes such as "xmodule=vesa" or "xmodule=fbdev"? You can also copy sections from Easter-RC4 xorg.conf to your new install.

Thanks ockham, I have tried xmodule=visa without luck but got it working from the extra boot menu with framebuffer=1024x768.
