I am constantly getting this error. Now I do know that
$ xauth list
# xauth add (xauth list )
cleans it up. But the prob is that it returns on the next reboot. Is there any way of correcting it permanently? I also have noticed that the alpha-numeric numbers listed in the xauth list change frequently. Is that supposed to happen, or is that adding difficulty to xauth?

use "sux" to become root

You can also add "xhost +local:root>/dev/null" in /home/username/.bashrc
But there really isn't a need with sux

Thax. I alwas thought one was to use mainly su, I guess there is more then one way to skin a cat. Worked great today.
