General Support - Kanotix 64 bit with 32 bit apps

Titel: Kanotix 64 bit with 32 bit apps
I have been a long time suse user but want to change distros. I have been playing with 2006 easter and love it but will wait until 2006 final before I do the final changeover to Kanotix. Firstly, will the final release ship with KDE 3.5.5? I notice it is due to be released in a few weeks.
Now my main question. I run a 64 bit system and with suse I was able to install the 64 bit version and then add the 32 bit versions of Firefox, MPlayer, KMPlayer and all associated plug ins (flash, **censored** etc) so that I had full web browsing and multimedia capabilities. Is this possible (or recommended?) with Kanotix and apt?
Will the 64 bit version of Kanotix be released at the same time as the 32 bit version?
Regards, Marcus

Sure - that's not just possible, but the recommended way if you don't have very specific reasons for native 64bit support (using more than 4Gb RAM, heavy compiling work, ...).
You usually wont recognize the speed difference, and have much less problems with the stuff an average pc-user is interested in.

Chris

You can run the 32bit version of Kanotix on an AMD Athlon64 machine without any problems, if that's your question.

Well I just downloaded the latest 32bit kanotix in readiness for the new comp (2 days to go) and am currently downloading the 64bit version of openSUSE, simply because I thought it was the thing to do.
I just haven't had time to do any reading up on 64bit.
I have no particular reason for using AMD 64, it simply the best comp I can afford and comes with a lot of extras.
<EDIT>
My apologies if I've already asked this question here before, I have a feeling I actually started a thread about it but I can't remember.
