Kannst du den Router pingen, oder ist die Verbindung "tot", obwohl der Adapter per DHCP eine IP-Adresse erhalten hat?
Hast du das Problem auch, wenn du die Kanotix-LiveCD verwendest?
Hast du mal einen anderen PCI-Slot ausprobiert?

Nachtrag:
beim booten/hochfahren RC3 kommt Meldung ähnlich " kann root/user/adresse für xyz nicht finden -" ....ich kanns mir nicht merken - kann man das nachträglich, ähnlich wie "dmsg" anschauen (die bootup-messages/ausdrucke) ??

1 . ja- per live-cd ist sofort net - online da. Nur nicht nach RC3-hd-install (incl.netcardconfig)
2. pci-slot werd ich noch wechseln -

Du darfst übrigens eth0 nicht die statische IP-Adresse 192.168.178.1 zuweisen, weil diese Adresse ja schon vom Router verwendet wird.
