Titel: JMB363 ide controller
2006-01-RC4 live cd could not find the cdrom on my system and thus could not boot. I discovered that the ide controller on my new GA-965P-DS3 motherboard is not supported in the kernel version in RC4. I was hoping to use it to partition the SATA drive prior to installing the other OS and Kanotix. Does anyone know of a workaround or will I just have to wait for a new release with an updated kernel?
There is a live cd(Small Gentoo) which has support for this controller but it boots to a command line and my command line capabilities are less than magnificent. If there is a way to make this work I would appreciate any possible assistance.

For the record, the solution consisted of selecting either "AHCI" or "RAID/IDE" in the OnBoard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode section of the Integrated Peripherals page in BIOS setup. A bug had been reported by a number of Ubuntu users using motherboards incorporating this IDE controller and the workaround was subsequently discovered.
This does cause some extra work getting "that other OS" installed since a SATA/IDE driver has to be created using the motherboard driver CD-ROM on another computer, then installed during OS installation.
Further, when doing a dist-upgrade using h-2's script, I noticed a note suggesting upgrading to a Kanotix kernel which provided full support for core 2 duo processors, so I did that. The system refuses to boot with that kernel. However, that is another problem for which I will submit another post.
