Graphik, Video, Sound - monitor out of range with Kanotix Live tjapko - 21.12.2006, 19:01 Uhr Titel: monitor out of range with Kanotix Live
I cannot start any Kanotix CD anymore (I have several): sometime during install my screen starts flashing several times and I get the message: Attention, Out of range H: (some value) kHz, V: (some value) Hz.
Windows, Suse and Ubuntu work fine and I used to have Kanotix as well. I tried to get the newest and met the problem above.
Monitor is iiyama LS902UT
There is a new motherboard in my desktop, but with my previous Kanotix functioned well with it before I started to replace it, so I'm at a bit of a loss.

try
noml
cheatcode.

Thanks for the fast response.
I have put noml in several different positions, but either I get the same flashing sequence resulting in out of range or a kernel panic.
N.B. Knoppix 5.0 starts normally (I tried to look up the meaning of the cheatcode noml there, in vain by the way).

Thanks, but this doesn't make any difference either.

@ tjapko
try
Code:
noml noddc

No go too.
I have tried a different monitor as Kanotix detects mine wrongly, but this one although correctly detected doesn't work either.

Tried Failsafe, same problem.
With Ctrl-C during flashing gives a terminal if I'm fast enough. Is there a possibility to set the monitor from there or do I have to give up?
xdm gives the same out of range message.

What is the difference between Knoppix and Kanotix with respect to this monitor/motherboard issue?
