I tried to update my system, according with the instructions from the kanotix site. (http://www.kanotix.com/FAQ-id_cat-146.html). But somehow the apt-get update process cannot get the beryl project sources because the server returns 'access denied 403'.
if I fill in this: 'http://debian.beryl-project.org' in my webbrowser, I also get 'Forbidden', I cannot even access 'http://forum.beryl-project.org/'
In this way I cannot update, does anybody know what could be causing this problem?

All beryl packages are in the Thorhammer repository. But better install Excalibur.

Does this mean I have to burn the .iso and install/update from this?, I can find the http://kanotix.com/files/excalibur/ repository, but I do not see the beryl package in it. I also cannot find a Thorhammer path on the site.
Kano - 17.01.2010, 19:30 Uhr Titel:
There is no beryl in Excalibur, use compiz (fusion) on that one.
apt-get --yes install fusion-icon compiz-kde compiz-plugins compiz-fusion-plugins-extra compizconfig-settings-manager

On the frontpage (already noticed by other english users ) is a newspost with this link:
http://debian.tu-bs.de/project/kanotix/ ... 2.6.32.iso
Enjoy the newest preview of Kanotix! There is even a KDE4 Version of the iso if you come into the Kanotixchat ^^ (there should be a Chaticon on your desktop, or use the Link in the Menu on the left, its just important that you dont choose a nick like "webkanotix202" or something, use a "real" nickname)
We have some nice atmosphere there, so take a look
btw: Beryl is kinda outdated - you'll be surprised by the new compiz features (you can configure compiz via "ccsm", you start compiz via "compiz --replace &" )
EDIT: (KDE4 has built-IN desktop effects)

I was updating from the 2005-03 release. So I'll guess installing compiz will probably give me dependency trouble, which I don't want to deal with.
I think I'll be going to the store for cd's that can fit that 835 mb so I can burn the new iso and just reinstall everything.
thanks,

burn iso file to dvd(-rw) or use an usb stick to install, works pretty good too and is much faster (take a look to !usb output in IRC)
