Hallo Hendrik
ich hab jetzt die letzte Version inst. und hab Seamonkey gerade unter Gnome laufen.
Funktioniert alles soweit, bis auf Mails mit goßem Anhang. da ist Seamonkey-Mail ein paarmal ausgestiegen. Ohne Fehlermeldung!
Schaun wir mal ein paar tage...

Rolo,
Your crash problems with large e-mails are new to me. However, I did notice the same behaviour when using forums or gmail with seamonkey. It doesn't crash always, but occasionaly it does. I'm afraid that this is related to the fact that it runs on the xul libnspr and libnss files. Apparently the combination is not 100% stable!
I don't think that there is a solution for this, but that seamonkey will need its own libs. This would mean rethinking the way Debian currently wants seamonkey packaged (what I did now is basically how they want it).
Building it the way the old mozilla suite was; with its own libs isn't possible anymore as it conflicts with the current xul devel libs. I'll ask some questions about this in the seamonkey/xulrunner lists.

Hallo Rolo,
first of all: I am not a debian developer, so I have no control over how and when stuff gets added to the official repos.
I have never set up an apt repository. I'm willing to do that, but I'd like some help with that as I have no idea how the internals work.
Security updates... probably will be merged as they get available. Nobody started building Seamonkey before 1.0.4 because there were too many (security) issues. But since 1.0.4 I haven't seen security fixes for it yet, they probably will come, and I will merge them.

hab immer noch das problem, das seamonkey ab und zu sich unvermittelt ausschaltet! ohne vorwarnung und ohne fehlermeldung!
Nachtrag: mußte seamonkey erstmal entfernen. alle 2 minuten ein komplettabsturz.
@slam: ich hab immer noch nicht richtig verstanden, was der hendrik eigentlich macht.
macht er das mit seamonkey in eigenregie?

The sudden crashes of Seamonkey can not be prevented with the way the package is currently structured.
To fix it, I need to find a way to integrate Seamonkey's libnspr and libnss packages instead of xulrunners.
Unfortunately the current Debian Sid tree, leaves no room for this (if I would do this, I would create a conflict with the xulrunner packages).
I've mailed to the buglist regarding Seamonkey to ask about this.
And no, I am not part of any Debian packaging team. I do this, because I want to see Seamonkey as part of Debian, and I hoped that some "proof of concept" would speed things up.

Yup, I'm afraid of that too, so I hope to get some discussion about this in the buglist. But so far nothing
And yes, Seamonkey uses gtk2 style dialogues, but you can also compile it to use old style dialogues.

Ok,
Version -7 available on the server.
This one has a libnss3-sm and libnspr4-sm again, and you need them!!!
Please remove the previous version before installing this one.
Is this one more stable?

I overhauled the directory structure a bit in the /Experimental section.
There are now 3 versions of seamonkey available:
-6 Xulrunner based, an probably not stable (because of that)
-7 Working on its own libnspr and libnss, but no -dev files, same build settings as -6
-8 Working on its own libnspr and libnss, with working -devs (not sure if these are even needed) with different, probably more stable, build settings.
edit: Versions -7 and -8 use libnspr and libnss in such a way that in can be installed next to Firefox, mozilla-suite or thunderbird. Of course you can not run seamonkey and mozilla-suite at the same time, as they use the same profile.

Hallo,
ich habe mir jetzt mal Seamonkey "Testinstalliert", nach der obigen Anleitung a la "apt-get" bin ich zwar noch nicht zum Ziel gekommen, aber mit den Sourcen hat es geklappt!
PS: mir geht es erstmal ums Handling, Integration in KDE und Geschwindigkeit, sprich wie "fühlt sich SeaMonkey in Kanotix an.

mit fromiso und unionfs gebootet, also only-Test !!!

dann das Theme "mostlycrystal_sea_1.jar" über die Installhilfe "local-theme-installer.html" , Seamonkey schließen und neu öffnen.
hier in "Bearbeiten/Einstellungen/Erscheinungsbild/Themes das "mostlycrystal" auswählen.
So, und dann mal alles durchgetestet, was soll ich sagen, alles recht schnell, stabil und integriert sich in KDE ganz hübsch. Selbst in den Pulldown-Menüs sind alle Icons von "crystal" wohl korrekt da.
Achso, bitte so nicht in ein "produktives System" installieren !!!, nur als Preview

Hello all,
I've updated the Seamonkey files once again.
This is the final build of 1.0.4 it's -9, and it is stable.
I've been chatting to sme developers, and there is talk of skipping version 1.0.x alltogether and go directly to 1.1.
As a test, I built a 1.1 already. I have NOT tested this one at all!!! so use is at your own risk!!!
