Just installed Kanotix on an older 500Mhz Pentium PC. It's working very well except for one problem. I cannot log in under the user account I created. When I choose the user ID to log in with with the screen flashes and brings me back to the log on screen again.

But if I choose root I can log in, but of course I don't want to do that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There was a bug a few weeks ago in xorg causing a loop in KDM, the solution was

Code:

# apt-get install --reinstall -o Dpkg::Options::=--force-confmiss -o DPkg::Options::=--force-confnew x11-common

EDIT:
There is a space between -o and Dpkg::

Might be your bug.
