Did some searching. But, can't find, or don't understand, the posts related.
How do I "check disk" in Linux? I have a hard disk that seems to have problems occasionaly. I just wanted to get a read out of its situation.

depends on what kind of hd errors. problem with filesystem.
run LiveCD. do not mount parttion with namly missmatched flesystem. Open a root-console.
ex. it is hda1 with ext3: run fsck.ext3 /dev/hda1
If you think its a HW-Failsure like Bad-sectors cant done with linux but with the Tools from the HD-Manufactorer.. I.E: Seagate seatools, ibm/hitachi DFT |
