Hallo Forum,
ich habe neben meinem 19" TFT 1280x1024 noch einen 15" 1024x786 rumstehen.
Meine Grafikkarte hat zwei Ausgänge.
Gibt es irgendein Script/Programm um dies zu Konfigurieren ohne ein Xorg Profi zu sein? |

Hallo Sami,
versuchs doch mal im Kontrollzentrum > KANOTIX > Anzeige
zumindest sind dort sämtliche Konfigurationsmöglichkeiten vorgegeben.
Ob es dann letztendlich funktioniert, kann ich dir aber nicht sagen.
Ich habe mir twinview mittels dieses Wiki-Beitrages eingerichtet

Hab hier zwei 17" CRT stehen, und das funktioniert ausgezeichnet.
Und ich bin sicher kein Xorg-Profi!

| Xinerama, TwinView etc. sind stark Abhängig vom Grafiktreiber - Hinweise kann ich nur zu radeon (nicht fglrx) und Xinerama geben. |

Ergänzung:
voraussetzung ist natürlich, das es sich bei deiner Grafikkarte um ein Modell von Nvidia handelt.
Ansonsten kannst du meinen Beitrag getrost ignorieren! |

nein da er nicht geht steht auch bei Matrox auf der Seite,
ich gab nur mga als treiber an und es ging Monitor einstellungen angepasst und geht!

danke für deine raschen Antworten!
Ich habs mal versucht zu editieren, Rechner neu gestartet und er bleibt beim Login auf der Konsole stehen.
Der erste Versuch ging also schon mal in die Hose 
Werde gegen später mal meine Xorg hier posten.
Andere Frage, kann man sowas nicht gleich als Bootparameter übergeben? |

Karten etc. pp.; wo wir bei Matrox sind, brauchen wir unbedingt auch Support für die Parhelia Reihe die 3-4 Ausgänge bietet, ach ja, die binären Treiber gehen ja nur mit Kernel 2.4 und XFree86 4.3 und stabil überhaupt nicht - und was wollen wir überhaupt, Xinerama, merged FB, Twinview, Dualscreen yada, yada....

So ich habs nun ohne Fehlermeldungen hinbekommen.
Leider sagt der zweite Bildschirm immer "Out of Range".
Habe Kanotix Live gebootet und dort die Sachen für den zweiten Monitor rauskopiert und in meine Xorg.conf reinkopiert.
Warum fährt er auf dem zweiten einfach nicht die 1024x768 @ 75 Hz?

Bei einem out of Range liegt eine zu große Video-Bandbreite vor. Passiert immer wenn der Monitor keine "richtigen" Werte für H- oder Vsync oder noch schlimmer die bandbreite abliefert. Einige Monitore Reagieren auch auf "falsche" Sync-Signale. Die werden gebraucht wenn keine Möglichkeit besteht, per DDC die Werte einzustellen. z.B.: H und V-Sync "++" für 1024x768 statt H-Sync = "+" und V-Sync = "-"
In diesem Fall hilft ein Blick ins Monitor-Handbuch und die H-Sysnc und V-Sync Werte selbst einstellen. Die Modlines muß man allerdings löschen. Bei der Bandbreite bitte immer etwas weniger einstellen asl der Monitor es Verkraften könnte. z.B.: statt 96kHz nur 87.6kHz schon sieht man ein Bild. |

Raiders Anleitung im Wiki funktioniert bei mir nach erfolgreicher Nvidia-Treiber-Installation (Karte FX 5500) vorzüglich, im Einsatz sind ein 19" TFT (links) und ein 21" CRT (rechts), beide mit praktisch gleich großer tatsächlich angezeigter Sichtfläche. Allerdings wird der CRT nur angesprochen, wenn in der Zeile

*beide* Monitore als crt ausgewiesen werden. Sowohl "crt,tft", als auch "tft,crt" schlagen fehl mit meinem Setup.
Kann man eigentlich Programme beim Start spezifisch einem Monitor zuordnen? Sodaß zum Beispiel konqueror immer links öffnet, während xmms immer rechts aufgeht. |

Kommt wie immer auf die Art des X-Server-Modus an.
Bei Clone left to right No Way.
Bei Independent, mit einem Startscript der als Parameter noch den StartLeftPane oder StartRightPane mit bekommt.
Bei Virtual gibts als Position eben den Parameter der Window(0,0) Koordinatet relativ zum gemeinsamen Screen. z.B.: screen commonsize= 2048x1024 für Progr.1 (100,120) und für Progr.2 (1280x120) als Koordinaten für die Ausgabe. Bei diesem Beisipel bin ich von 2 gleichgroßen Auflösungen der Monitore ausgegangen. Koordinaten Links HPos 0 - 1023 und Rechts HPos1024 -2047.
Hängt halt davon ab, wie die Monitore und der X-Server tatsächlich betrieben werden. |

Soweit ich das verstanden habe, arbeitet der X-Server mit einer gemeinsamen Auflösung von 2560x1024 über beide Monitore. |

Das komische ist jedoch, ich habe die xorg.conf von der Life-CD Version genommen, da war nur der kleine TFT dran der nun sagt "Out of Range"... |

So ich hab nun mal in der Anleitung geschaut und mein Xorg.conf angepasst.
Kein Erfolg 
Dann hab ich mal den anderen TFT angeschlossen und siehe da auf dem zweiten Ausgang ist auch 1280x1024 statt 1024x768.
Als ob meine Xorg garnicht beachtet werden würde.
Wobei ich sagen muss das ist schon ein altes Kanotix das immer wie apt-get dist-upgrade auf trapp gehalten wurde (könnte das das Problem sein?).
Desweiten ist das gleiche auf dem "linken" dachte eigentlich auf dem "rechten" hab ich einen erweiterten Desktop wie ich das von einem anderen BS kenne.
Irgendwie ist das zum heulen, ich sitze Stunden davor und probiere, ihr investiert Zeit und es geht einfach nicht. |

Sami, gerade hab ich nochmals deinen 2. Post gelesen, und mich an eine "alte" Anleitung von Matrox erinnert. Da stand sinngemäß drin: Um die volle DualSrceen Fähigkeit zu nutzen, benötigt man 2 gleichartige Monitore. (2 x gleiche Auflösung). Die Treiber sind nicht für unterschiedliche Auflösung ausgelegt und sind nur den Profi-Karten vorbehalten.
Soweit singemäß zu der "alten" Matrox-Anleitung. Eigentlich auch einleuchtend, denn zu der Zeit wo Matrox das rausgebracht hat, gabs nur DOS und Windos und an Beschleunigungskarten als VOODO-Banshee war damals nicht zu denken.
DOS konnte schon immer mit 2 Karten umgehen. Hercules(BW) und C(E/V)GA. Alles Andere war eine Krücke. 20 Jahre später haben Nvidia und ATI gezeigt, daß es im Consumer Bereich auch mit 2 VGA-Kontrollern auf einer Karte geht.
Du mußt dich bei Matrox leider damit abfinden nur eine Auflösung zu benutzen. Entweder 1280x1024 oder 1024x768.
Der VGA-Standart hatte ja auch unterschiedliche Auflösungen bei 2(4)-Schirm Betrieb vorgesehen, nur nie festgelegt wie die Hersteller das zu implementieren haben. |

hmm, bin mir nicht sicher ob das noch so ganz stimmt. Ich hatte mal bei rumbasteln mit verschiedenen Auflösungen gearbeitet (mga 400u.450 Auflösungen 1152x864 . 1024x768) und meine das ging. Werde nochmal testen und die Infos dann posten.

| Die 400 und 450 sind 2 Karten auf einer. Sprich du hast 2 Chips drauf. Die 200 und 500 sind single-chiper. Da iegt der Kleine Unterschied. |

Bist Du sicher ? Es ist nur 1 Chip mit Kühlkörper drauf, kann aber sein dass die in einem integriert wurden.
