Hi all,
I'm trying to get the spell checker to work with Sylpheed-claws
(2.3.1), but I'm not having any luck so far. When I open configuration/preferences/spell checking,
I see a box with the spell checker path, which is set to /usr/lib/aspell/. That seems to be right, as far as I can tell.
There's another box just below that which is for choosing the
default dictionary, but it says "none" and when I click that I get no
other choice but "none." How can I get Sylpheed to recognize a default
dictionary?
Whenever I open up a composer window, I get an error message: "Spell
checker cannot be started" and "No word lists could be found for the
dictionary 'none'." Has anyone gotten the spell checker to work with Sylpheed-claws? |

Sure it works fine here. Of course you must also make sure
'Enable spell checker' is selected. You should also have the option to select 'Default DIctionary'
I have these aspell packages installed:
aspell
aspell-en
libaspell-dev
libaspell15
libaspell15c2 |

Thanks for your reply 'Enable spell checker' was selected. I was missing 2 packages that you listed
aspell-en
libaspell15c2
Once I installed those 2 'Default Dictionary' allowed me to select en and now everything is working just fine.
Thanks again! |
