Dummerweise kommen die fonts-Fehler auch bei einer funktionierenden Installation.
Ich hatte nicht die defekte sysv-rc 2.86.ds1-16, sondern von 2.86.ds1-15 direkt auf die bereinigte 2.86.ds1-18 upgedated.
d-u lief fehlerfrei, -f install brachte auch keine Fehler und install-nvidia.. lief problemlos. Nach dem Boot erscheint das Nvidia-Logo, dann der KDM-Anmelde bildschirm, der nach Eingabe User/Passwort kurz verschwindet und dann wieder erscheint.
Xorg.0.log endet so:

auch nix, was in einer guten Familie nicht auch vorkommt. Gelegentlich bleibt der Bildschirm nach dem Einloggen auch einfach schwarz. Der Rechner reagiert dann nicht mehr, nur nach ctrl-alt-entf fährt er nach einigen Minuten runter. Ich bin für jede Anregung und jede Hilfe dankbar
