| The error I get is Depends: gaim-data (=1:2.0.0+beta5-2) but 1:2.0.0+beta5-3 is to be installed this happened after a dist-upgrade and the new Iceweasel... I got kopete running but I used to gaim..It seem like the ol'libirary h#ll thing. If the repos are in a state of change this week will do a wait and see...System seem's okay just gaim a mess... |

try apt-get -f install

I put gaim-data on hold for todays d-u, otherwise it wanted to remove gaim and a couple other gaim related packages.
You might try installing the older version of gaim r just wait til the other gaim packages get updated in a day or two. |

one way to fix is:::
apt-get install gaim-date/testing
apt-get install gaim/testing
apt-get install gaim-irchelper/testing
then put gaim on hold:
echo gaim hold|dpkg --set-selections
To take it off hold do this:
echo gaim install|dpkg --set-selections
gaim is all over the place and has been for a while |

I tried and failed at the fixes...did distro-upgrade using h2's script too..Now I am looking to see/find etc etc a way to install the older version of gaim. Just need to find older deb file for gaim to try a semi-manual install.. I have a old Knoppix disk ver 4 something. Will have to do some digging to find the older deb. I not did a search on HD for the old deb yet. I sort of a PACK-RAT...got win 3.11 and dos 3.3 someplace on floppy!!  |

If you really need it now just do
root@KanotixBox:/home/piper# apt-get remove --purge gaim-data

Approx 21:15 usa cst.. Gaim is working now. Did a simple apt-get update/upgrade then try a gaim install...all seems okay now! Somebody has to be watching! And also fixing stuff in the repos library area! Who or what you are I give great thanks!! M$ is a GOOD LUCK you on own thing!!! I have had better support and help with the Pengiun..He has a great bunch in his flock..
