I'd be interested in adopting Thorhammer final as my primary distro, but was wondering if anyone could tell me which packages Kanotix plans not to take from the Etch/Backports.org repositories, and whether these will be independently maintained by the Kanotix developers or taken unmodified from Sid.

I backported all apps on my own. If you like to use the "official" backports.org you are on your own with problems. I prefer compiling everything with pbuilder.
