Titel: Auflösung ändern - ATI medion 9600TX

Hallo zusammen,
ich versuche seit Tagen eine Auflösung von 1650x1080 einzustellen aber es will einfach nicht funktionieren.
ATI Treiber hab ich schon instaliert aber meine Auflösung ist einfach nicht dabei. Kann das Problem davon kommen das es keine Standard-Grafikkarte von ATI ist sondern eine Medion Version die in einem MEDION TITANIUM MD8008 verbaut ist? (MEDION RADEON 9600TX Ver. 1.0.0 (MSI MS-8906)
)
Gibt es einen Weg die Konfigurationsdateien des x-servers von Hand zu ändern?
Bei Lösungsvorschlägen bitte ganz langsam tippen da ich in Sachen Linux ein völliger Noob bin!

| Da müsste man sich das Logfile anschauen (/etc/X11/xorg.conf). Am besten wäre ssh zugriff, wenn man was testet. Komm mal in den Chat. |

Die Instalation des ATI Treibers läuft durch und endet mit:

Und dann nach einem Reeboot startet der xserver nicht mehr!
Wenn ich ihn mit startx von Hand starte sagt das System:

hab dann mit knxcc das Control-Center gestartet und mit redetect die Grafikkarte neu erkennen lasssen.

So...
ich glaub jetzt hab ich es!
Zuerst hab ich mir dein Thorhammer RC7 iso gezogen und Kanotix völlig neu aufgesetzt. Dann war da doch endlich eine Funktion wo man die Auflösung per Hand einstellen konnte. Und siehe da.... plop eindlich ein scharfes Bild!
Leider ist der Desktop ein wenig zu tief gerutscht, aber mit Kontrolleiste an der Seite kann ich damit erstmal leben!
Danke für die Hilfe und deine kostbare Zeit an diesem Projekt!

jetzt hab ich 1400x1050.
Ich denke ich werde eine neue Grafikkarte kaufen.
Bei Atelco gibts ne "Point of View GeForce FX5500 256MB 64-bits AGP"
für 39,- Euro
oder ne "Club3D HD3650 512MB GDDR2, ATI Radeon HD3650, AGP"
für 66,- Euro
Mit welcher hab ich weniger Stress?
Dann kann ich den Monitor auch per DVI anklemmen und demnächst auch den den HD-TFT im Wohnzimmer wo der Rechner dann auch seinen Dienst verrichten soll. |

Und falls du doch irgendwann einmal eine neue Karte kaufen willst, kann ich dir nur raten Nvidia zu nehmen, egal ob für windows, oder Linux 
Wenn du mal googelst, kannst du die Einstellungen die du haben willst auch erzwingen. Hab ich mal bei meiner Karte gemacht mit Hilfe von Kano. Aber wie genau das war hab ich vergessen ^^°

Danke für die Hilfe aber die Karte kommt raus!
Ich brauche eh nen DVI-Ausgang für den (demnächst) neuen Fernseher.
Die Karte ärgert mich schon seit Jahren unter XP bzw. letzlich unter Win7.
Da es ja eine 9600TX ist die es original von ATI nie gab musste man schon unter XP an der .ini Datei rumdoktern damit die aktuellen Catalyst Treiber die Karte überhaupt erkannt haben. (Karte ist eine leicht modifizierte Radeon 9500 Pro)
Unter Linux wird es wohl ein ähnliches Problem geben.
Da eine neue Karte ja nicht die Welt kostet mache ich diesem Spuk nun ein Ende.

| Und wenn schon eine AGP-Karte, dann eine Nvidia mit 7er Chipsatz(ne 7600GS gibt es für ca. 40 Euro gebraucht). Mit ner 5500 wirst du definitiv nicht glücklich. |

Hallo,
habe bei meiner Mutter die Thorhammer installiert, da sie mit 63! Jahren noch den Umstieg von MS auf Linux machen möchte.
Bzgl. der Graka (9800), hatte ich auch dasselbe Problem mit der Darstellung (1280*1080).
Oben von Kano der install-fglrx-debian.sh hat Abhilfe geschaffe. Vorher hatte ich nicht das -abr dahinter. Jetzt stellt er alles in 1650*1080 da (60hz) bei einem 22Zoll Monitor.
Die Webseiten sehen aber irgendwie von der Darstellung "schroff" aus, das heißt z.B. die Schriften. Auch überlagern sich diese z.B. auf Webseiten manchmal.
Könnte mit noch jemand als Noop einen Tipp geben?Bin wiegesagt selber ein totaler Anfänger und möchte auch nicht nerven.

Hallo Martin,
wenn Du
apt-get install msttcorefonts
machst dann sind die richtigen Schriftarten dauerhaft installiert.
ggf. noch
fix-fonts
in die Konsole eingeben, aber das mit apt-get sollte reichen, wenn Kano das sagt...
