Hi guys,
Just downloaded the new version of KANOTIX and burnt to DVD.
This looks good - the application selection is wide and good . It also feels good. I am planning to have it installed in one of the partitions.
The cd booting takes ages and I rebooted twice thinking it has frozen. So, it isnecessary to have the "silent" option removed - so that one can see something is happening. Also, the booting period is too long - that needs to be brought down.
GParted (partition editor) takes an abnormally long time to recognise all the disks. The actions are painfully slow, specially when one has multiple disks. (Is it not possible to pre-select the disks to check - to avoid this delay?)
Wine is not full configured on the CD - hence it is not possible to use wine-loader for windows program when working from the CD.
I am going thru it - and I hope the above things will be corrected in future packs.

I'm afraid booting a Kanotix.iso with DVD will stay to be rather slow.
This is not a problem of Kanotix alone, other modern Distributions with big isos >>700 MB have the same problem.
It is recommended to start with USB-stick.
