As root, "apt-get install keepassx". There's also another program, written in TCL/TK (so it's portable across OS's) named Password Gorilla, that can use the Keepass database format
Thanx. LastPass can import from KeePass, so I should be able to keep a back-up of important passwords on my computer, and use LastPass in the cloud on an everyday basis.

My last attempt at passord management across 4 computers, each with a minimum of 2 operating systems installed (Windows + Linux) was to install Dropbox and use a freeware Windows program named Password Corral (which runs fine using Wine). The idea was to store Password Corral's encrypted database on Dropbox and copy it to each OS. In practice, that hasn't worked out so well.
LastPass might just do the trick here

How do you like LastPass?
So far managing, still getting the hang of it Installed Firefox Add-On in Iceweasel, and use LastPass over 2 browsers. But just online with the other browser Opera. And over 2 operating systems: Kanotix & Mint.
Seems to have a bit of a problem logging me into Livejournal, which is where I keep my record of implementations, enhancements, housekeeping etc. (Handy to keep a record independent of one's m/c. If Kanotix crashes use Mint to fix and vice-versa. Using Ark GUI to extract rar got plenty of practice with 'reisub'.) |
