Just a simple question? When you run dpkg-reconfigure -all, is there a way to skip pkg that when dpkg-reconfigure hits, that you already know are configured the way you want, and therefore get to the ones that you have no clue you had, (and therefore might not want) or did have but didn't know were not configured correctly in the first place that much more quickly. The reason I was wondering this was that I did find pkgs that I had but did know were not configured right, but I don't have hours at one sitting to go through everything, but could work on it a bit at a time. if I knew a way to take some shortcuts. Then on the other hand someone might know of a total diff way of doing the samething. |

There is really no reason at all in Kanotix to do dpkg-reconfigure -all, as it comes with almost everything perfectly pre-configured. You may however dpkg-reconfigure single packages if needed.
The best way to get everything cleanly re-configured is an "Update-Install" from Live-CD. This will give you a completely new system in less than 20 minutes, and will keep your /home as it was before.
Greetings,
