Downloaded and just testing it now.
Nice graphics!
But the Intel Pro/Wireless 3945 802.11 ABG on my inspiron is still not detected by default.
I enabled it on my installed version on hardisk (using Easter and compiled the drivers, etc).
Will 2006-01 support 3945?

I was having the same problem. I just ran /sbin/ipw3945d and it works great. I now have to run it every time after startup. How do I run /sbin/ipw3945 automatically in startup so my network is setup on startup?

Well we could not test the best starting point, but currently we would use:
unfreeze-rc.d
update-rc.d -f ipw3945d remove
update-rc.d ipw3945d start 38 S . stop 34 0 6 .
freeze-rc.d |

I did try this (ipw3945d) earlier today and it works. At this time, I think I wouldnt mind not starting wifi by default. It may be good and saves me some batt 
I think I prefer it off by default. I might even want to stop dhcp on my ethernet by default.
And now, I learn a new option --> unfreeze and freeze-rc.d

The rc.d update works great and starts ipw3945d. I have tried to use the kanotix network configuration script to bring eth1 up with my WPA network and it works. The problem is that I have to run the script manually every time, it won't initialize eth1 during bootup. Any suggestions???

You can then write a little script to bring up or take down your wireless connection when desired and put an icon on the desktop for it |
