Hello
How can I customize my keyboard layout to Brazilian ASCII2? Previous version of Kanotix it was simple, just right click over current language selection on right bottom screen, choose configure, and a screen was shown with available layouts. Kanotix 2006-1 RC1 seems missing this choice because available layouts came empty. The configured keyboard layouts are for us, de and fr.
Thanks |

Well I would like to know a fix too, as it is on a dist-updated hd install too... Did you see a Debian bug about it? |

Thanks, Kano. I didn't see any Debian bug. Tried Kanotix Easter and it works fine there. Requested Layout = Brazil, Keymap = br, Variant = abnt2 was there. I thought that a command line like "setxkbmap -model pc105 -layout br -variant abnt2" could do the trick, I don't know.
Well, don't want to go back Easter version just to have kbd fix.
Thank you. |

"good" (sort of) to know this is a general problem - i thought i had screwed up my config somehow. does anyone know how (and where) to install the missing keyboard layouts? |

Well... think I have found a fix...
As a normal user (not root) I typed in a console terminal the following command:
setxkbmap -model pc105 -layout br -variant abnt2
It worked out in a terminal window with Brazilian keyboard and also inside Thunderbird. Now I must find out how to have this command line automatically loaded after each boot. Anyone to tell me a shortcut?
Thanks you all |

that won't work for me - i need (want, really) to be able to switch back and forth between keyboards and languages within the same document.
i think the layouts are actual files, and all that's needed is to get the files and put them in some folder
anyone know what and where? |

OK, here is the fix:
Code:
rm -rf /etc/X11/xkb
and now you should be able to configure any keyboard layout you want from within Control Center |
