When I try to unpack a big file like 5GB from a number of rarfiles it fails. When I use Ark it stops with a failmessage, when I use Xarchive Manager it looks like it works but the ouput is a file wich is only exactly 2Gb in size. I have the files on a Reiserfs partition, if that can be to any help |

I tried to copy a big file to this specific partition with reiser fs and I'm not allowed to get over 2 Gb so the fault is not the unpacking programs it's the partition, but Reiser fs shall be able to take bigger files or? |

run this command and see the output: df -h
I would guess that it will report that the partition is too small
also check cfdisk /dev/hda or whatever drive it is, and see what cfdisk says for each partition. |

df -h reports 172G used 2.1
I have repartioned some of the harddisk I have formated and reformated the partition to REISERFS
cfdisk shows:
Zitat:
hda4 Primary Linux ReiserFS 184312.08
Still I cant copy a file bigger than 2Gb to it, I can easily put smaler files up to an amuont bigger than the big file so there are space.
fdisk shows
Zitat:
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 3843 30868866 83 Linux
/dev/hda2 3844 4041 1590435 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/hda3 4042 7993 31744440 c W95 FAT32 (LBA)
/dev/hda4 7994 30401 179992260 83 Linux

I have solved the problem.
Please don't hit me but I used Windows to repartion my harddisk, Paragon HarddiskManager, I used that because I wanted to resize some partitions with the files on them untuched (usually works good) but apparently doing a ReiserFS partition with this program makes it someway wrong, also my root partition is resized by Paragon HarddiskManager so I'm now running Kanotix on a maybe messed up filesystem. I shall anyway start from zero when Keno release his next next stabil release so taht will be repared then.
Yesterday I tried with only reformating the ReiserFS partition from kanotix but this didn't help so today I used cfdisk to remove hda3 and hda4, restart, used cfdisk to create two new partitions, restart then mkreiserfs /dev/hda4, restart and now it works!!!
Sorry everybody that I used your time with messing up my Kanotix with Windows and thanks for your help.
Anyway with this solved I can use Kanotix for everything so Windows is finaly redused to a gaming plattform. |
