DVD burning in Kanotix (2006-rc4) is quite slow (below 1x). On google I found it is a rather general problem of many distros and for almost all burners. Not everybody has this problem, but there is no solution that seems to work for those who have it. See for example this thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=128721
Anybody else got same problem in Kanotix? Is there a solution to be able to burn at a reasonable speed? DMA on my installation is enabled.
I have the same problem in Mepis (6.0), I had in PCLinuxOS, but solved it deleting gamin_server in /usr/lib. It did'nt work in Kanotix.

Well pardon the seemingly silly questions but please post the output if
Code:
hdparm /dev/hdX
where X is your cdrom drive.
How many IDE drives are in your system? |

Secondary master, 4 ide drives (and 2 sata). Secondary slave is a DVD reader. Shoul I try to switch channels or devices on channels?
I already tryed (as red somewhere in the net) to power off, disconnect burner, restart system, boot system, power off again reconnect and reboot again. Did't help. |

Sorry, forgotten, here is the output:
/dev/hdd:
IO_support = 1 (32-bit)
unmaskirq = 1 (on)
using_dma = 1 (on)
keepsettings = 0 (off)
readonly = 0 (off)
readahead = 256 (on)
HDIO_GETGEO failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
