I naively said yes to continue in :
# apt-get install kooka (for kde-scanner software)
the uppgrade get stuck at xorg-xserver-core_2%3a1.1.1-10_386.deb
error occurs when trying to overwrite "/etc/X11/xserver/SecurityPolicy"
I have not rebooted the system yet, so, have windows, any ideas for solving the impasse..

If you did this in kde/x, you basically just upgraded a part of your system. This is something you should not have done.
You can't do this type of upgrade in x/kde, without serious risk, it must be done in terminal/console, init 3, with no x running.
I recommend you download and run my script, du-fixes-h2.sh, which is made to run in init 3.
Please read the download page thoroughly before continuing.
As long as your system is 2005-4 or later, it should be ok. Make especial note of the install -f options.
Do not try to do this in kde/x, or your system may become irrecoverably destroyed. |

It will be helpful when you tell us which Kanotix version you are using. Especially with older versions updating Xorg can be quite tricky. Using h2's update-scripts can solve such problems.
Ok, piper and h2 were faster, just follow their advise |
