Just installed Kanotix as my main OS.
Copied all my folders, files ect from my backup external HD.
Can't access them , went to change permissions and they are all "greyed " out.
How do I solve this please, in simple steps as I'm a bit of an ignoramus as to how linux works |

Sorted, suddenly remembered I had this problem before, looked up my notes and for anybody who is interested it goes like this :-
1) press alt+F2
2) in the box that opens enter kdesu dolphin
3) Enter your password
4)Navigate to folders you want to change
You can now change all the permissions! |

Most likely you need to run fsck (or chkdsk /f x: on win) as you filesystem seems to be damaged. I would not use fat for anything other than usb keys, for hd i would use ntfs due to journaling. |

Kano hat folgendes geschrieben::

What I meant that is that I had sorted it |
